Orientation day 1

I'm so tired...but I have lots of pictures today♪

This was my breakfast. Since I did a research project on Minute Maid Japan last year and saw a commercial for this during that time as a new product, I wanted to try it. It's supposed to be an energy type of drink with bananas so I expected a smoothie type thing...Instead it turned out to be more like pudding. Not gross but unexpected and a different flavor from anything you'd find in the U.S.
My orientation went ok. We had to do self introductions which was super scary but...I got through it. I also talked to a few people. There's a girl named Inga who's from Minnisota and rly nice and lives in my dorm. She said she likes Japanese TV so she invited me to watch TV with her this evening. She and I were fangirling all over Arashi (a boy band) in this game show they were in. Fangirling in Japanese is something I can do well haha.

I also met a girl from Australia named Stephanie. She was soo cute and her voice was so high pitched. I spoke Japanese with her and she is so fluent...I'm jealous...She also lives in my dorm. She and I almost had lunch with our guide, Kai-san, but we had other things to do. We might see him again, though, later.

There was also a girl from Germany who was really nice named Laura and she spoke really fluent Japanese. She said that she can speak Japanese better than English so she and I spoke in Japanese. After we got long-term train passes, she took me and two other people to Shibuya since she had lived there before and showed us around. Here are some pictures of Shibuya:
Me with the famous Hachiko statue at Shibuya Station.

Crossroads at Shibuya. The buildings are soo tall!
The famous Shibuya 109 department store! Didn't have a chance to go inside today but I will soon~
I'm sad to say this was my dinner haha...Strawberries and cream crepe! I just always wanted to taste a Tokyo crepe so I bought it...
lskdfjs YAMADA and CHINEN. Everywhere I go, there are posters of celebs I know...Although it may seem sad, they make me feel at home.

Today was really exciting but...since I was with people that only spoke English in Shibuya, it felt kind of lonely. I wanted to speak with someone in Japanese and share the feelings I had inside of so much excitement...-sigh- But my friend Kumiko and Hiroko-san have contacted me! I have a date with Kumiko on Sunday and I think she's going to show me around places! And Hiroko-san invited me to her house at least sometime soon! Being with actual Japanese people in Japan is what I'm looking for. There's also a program with my university called KOSMOS where Japanese students can have conversations with international students. I really hope that the level that I place in ends me up with the opportunity to take classes with other Japanese students. It's boring being around international students! All they wanna do and often all they can do is speak English! It's frustrating for me...  I hope it's ok to look forward to classes starting.
